SAR Monument Dedication (Harrison)
July 4 @ 10:30 AM - 2:00 PM
The SAR Jordan Milam Chapter will dedicate a SAR monument on the East Side of the Boone County Courthouse in Harrison. One side has information on Jordan Milam’s biography and military career. On the other side is his son, Samuel Milam, who was in the War of 1812 with descriptive information. Both are the only soldiers from those wars buried in Boone County.
The Boy Scouts will be handling the flag duties. The Boone County Interim Judge Archer, local DAR president, Jordan Milam Chapter President Pat Flenniken will bring greetings. Compatriot Troy Massey will talk about how the monument came about being placed here and what each side of the marker says about Jordan and Samuel Milam.
Immediately following the dedication, there will be the DAR Annual Bell Ringing and the SAR/DAR 250th Celebration at the Bandstand on the Northwest corner of the Boone County Courthouse campus.
