State Registrar Speaks at Rogers Rotary Club

Rogers, AR – State Registrar James Morrison spoke to over 60 Rotarians at the Embassy Suites Hotel on September 15, 2026 about the Sons of the American Revolution and membership opportunities.

“It was fun to address the Rotarians about the Sons of the American Revolution. I asked if any of them knew who their 5th great grandparents were and maybe 10% raised their hands. Not many people know their family history past their grand- or great-grand parents. I hope I was able to plant some seeds about looking into their family history and discovering their roots, especially back to the American Revolution,” said State Registrar Morrison.

Morrison mentioned this year was the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution where the first shots were fired at Lexington-Concord in Massachusetts. He presented information about the Sons of the American Revolution and how members could research their family history.

“There’s a lot of information out there, especially with grandparents. Now is the time to ask about family history before those grandparents pass away or end up throwing family documentation away. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. I urged members to get started on Ancestry.com and reach out to other people who may have documentation to connect them to a Patriot who contributed to the American Revolution,” Morrison said. “Information is out there. You just have to look for it and you may be surprised who has information about your family history. I contacted a person in Denton, TX who I never met before through Ancestry.com. He had a wealth of information about an ancestor of mine which allowed me to connect to Capt. Benjamin Tutt, a Continental Army Officer.”

State Registrar Morrison was joined by Vice Regent Cassie Dagley of the Lovely Purchase Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.
